Florianópolis, Brazil — SUG World Tour is returning to Santa Catarina on Sunday, November 8, 2026, following a successful Brazilian debut that brought hundreds of grapplers together earlier this year.
The upcoming tournament marks the second Brazilian edition of the international grappling series, welcoming athletes of different ages, skill levels, and academies to compete in both Gi and No-Gi divisions.
A Strong Debut in Brazil
The first SUG World Tour event in Brazil took place on July 26, 2026, at Ginásio IEE in Florianópolis. According to official tournament results, the competition featured 318 athletes representing 53 teams, with 162 matches recorded across 175 divisions.
The event created opportunities for competitors ranging from developing athletes to experienced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners, bringing together teams from across the region and beyond.
Local talent also made its mark. Florianópolis athlete Igor Soares emerged as one of the standout competitors, winning gold in both his weight category and the absolute division. Ataque Duplo claimed the overall team championship, demonstrating the strength of the local grappling community.
The response to the inaugural event helped establish Florianópolis as an important stop on the SUG World Tour calendar.
What to Expect on November 8
The November edition will once again welcome competitors across Kids, Juvenile, Adult, and Master categories, with both traditional Gi and No-Gi competition.
Whether an athlete is entering an early tournament or has years of competition experience, the event offers an opportunity to represent their academy, test their techniques, and gain valuable competitive experience.
Participants will compete within official divisions organized according to the tournament's published eligibility and classification rules. Athletes and coaches are encouraged to review the current regulations, including permitted techniques and weight divisions, before registering.
For the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community in Santa Catarina, the return of SUG World Tour represents another opportunity to bring academies, competitors, coaches, and supporters together around the sport.
